Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for sailboats from 6 to 12 meters, the Garmin wireless wind pack (GNX™ Wind + gWind™ Wireless 2) provides a complete and simplified anemometric solution. This system eliminates the need to run complex cables through the mast, offering an advantage over traditional wired systems. It combines the GNX™ Wind instrument display and the gWind™ Wireless 2 sensor, ensuring seamless integration via the NMEA 2000® network and ANT® wireless technology.
GNX™ Wind Display: Visibility and Data
The GNX™ Wind display features a 4.0-inch (101.6 mm diagonal) monochrome LCD with optical bonding, offering black numbers on a white or customizable background for optimal readability. It consumes 350 mW during the day (without backlight) and 400 mW at night (medium backlight). This instrument can display two data fields and a digital wind rose simultaneously, presenting over 15 essential marine parameters, including true and apparent wind speed and angle, true wind direction, boat speed, VMG, heading, COG, and point of sail. The Steer Pilot function assists navigation by displaying the course to steer, and ANT® wireless connectivity allows wind data to be streamed to a compatible chartplotter or a quatix® 3 marine GPS watch. It is water-resistant to IPX7 standards, tolerating accidental immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, and has a compass safety distance of 209 mm.
gWind™ Wireless 2 Sensor: Wireless Precision
The gWind™ Wireless 2 sensor integrates Nexus® dual-fin technology and a three-blade propeller, ensuring accurate measurement of wind speed and angle. Its three-blade design improves wind speed accuracy in light breezes, while the two fins stabilize wind angle. It measures 345 x 610 mm (H x W), weighs 350 g, and operates within a wind speed range of 0.8 to 90 knots (0.4 to 50 m/s). The sensor is powered by an internal rechargeable solar-powered battery, providing three years of autonomy and easy replacement. Its ANT® wireless connectivity transmits data directly to the GNX™ Wind display or a compatible Garmin GPSMAP® chartplotter. The gWind™ Wireless 2 is rated IPX6, ensuring protection against heavy seas, and is designed for masts up to 15 meters in height.
