Installation on a foam-core fiberglass hull requires specific preparation to seal the core and prevent water infiltration. Follow this procedure:

Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot hole from the inside out through the hull. From the outside, use a 43 mm (1 11/16 in) hole saw to cut only the outer fiberglass skin. From the inside, at the pilot hole location, use a hole saw to cut a 9 to 12 mm (3/8 to 1/2 in) larger hole through the inner skin and most of the core, without cutting the outer skin.
