Detailed description
The Humminbird APEX 13 MEGA SI+ touchscreen combo is designed for navigation and underwater detection. It integrates advanced sonar imaging technologies and comprehensive navigation functions suitable for various marine applications. The APEX 13 features a touchscreen interface and keypad controls, enabling flexible interaction with the unit.
Advanced Sonar Technologies
The APEX 13 is equipped with MEGA SI+ (Side Imaging+) and MEGA DI+ (Down Imaging+) technologies. The MEGA SI+ technology uses two precise sonar beams oriented at right angles to the boat’s path, providing lateral coverage up to 152 meters (500 feet) at 1050–1175 kHz for high resolution and clarity. MEGA DI+ scans downward with narrow, high-definition beams, reaching depths of 76 meters (250 feet) at 1100–1200 kHz for clear imagery beneath the boat.
The combo also integrates Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar, delivering a direct conical coverage beneath the boat. It operates across a default frequency range of 150 kHz to 220 kHz, with a maximum depth capability of 365 meters (1200 feet).
Navigation and Connectivity
The APEX 13 includes an internal GPS receiver and offers navigation functions such as waypoint creation and management, route and track recording. It also supports the "Man Overboard" (MOB) function for continuous navigation to the emergency position. The system supports various marine chart options, including integrated Navionics, Navionics Gold, HotMaps, and Navionics Platinum+.
For connectivity, the combo features Bluetooth, an NMEA 2000 backbone (LEN: 2), two Ethernet ports, and Wi-Fi. These interfaces enable integration with NMEA 2000 sensors for engine and fuel monitoring, as well as pairing with Minn Kota devices such as shallow-water anchors (Talon or Raptor) and trolling motors, along with the Minn Kota Fishing app for software updates and network management. The system can display AIS and MARPA targets (requires AIS or radar, GPS receiver, and heading sensor).
Interface and Technical Specifications
The touchscreen allows intuitive gestures such as pinch-to-zoom. The combo can be controlled via physical buttons including the power button, Enter, Exit, cursor pad, Navigation, Snapshot, Mark, Home, Zoom, and Menu buttons. The APEX 13 consumes 3.1 Amps. It is critical to install the control unit at least 1.2 meters (4 feet) from a compass or other magnetic equipment.
