The Lowrance HOOK2-4x Ice Fishing Sonar (000-14088-001) is an acoustic detection solution specifically designed for ice fishing, integrating with the HOOK2-4x fishfinder. Unlike more versatile versions in the HOOK2 range, this configuration prioritizes pure sonar performance in winter conditions, omitting GPS or chartplotter features to focus on vertical detection. This kit optimizes fish and structure detection under ice through automated settings and advanced signal processing technology.
Sonar Performance Optimized for Ice Fishing
The included ice fishing transducer operates at a frequency of 200 kHz with a 20-degree beam, ideal for precise readings through a drilled hole. It is designed to reach a maximum depth of 152 meters (500 feet), ensuring extensive coverage for various ice fishing conditions. While the transducer operates at a single frequency of 200 kHz, the HOOK2-4x fishfinder uses high-frequency CHIRP technology to improve target separation and noise reduction—a critical advantage for distinguishing fish from structures under ice. The transducer is made of plastic and is fully waterproof, ensuring durability in extreme conditions. The dedicated "Ice Fishing" mode dynamically adjusts parameters for millimeter-perfect detection optimization.
HOOK2-4x Display Unit and Adapted Ergonomics
The associated HOOK2-4x unit features a 4.3-inch (109 mm) SolarMAX™ TFT color display with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels. This screen ensures clear visibility of fish echoes and structures, even in bright sunlight or strong winter light. The user interface features simplified menus and a dedicated physical keypad with spaced keys for zoom, menu/enter, and directional arrows. This ergonomic design is essential for easy use with thick winter gloves, where touchscreens can be impractical. The system includes Autotuning Sonar, which automatically adjusts fishfinder settings, as well as Lowrance’s exclusive Advanced Signal Processing (ASP), reducing the need for manual adjustments and facilitating target identification.
