Detailed description
Detailed description
The MAD Sensor Motion from MADINTEC is an advanced inertial measurement unit (IMU), a core component of the MADBrain autopilot system. Designed for high-resolution data acquisition, it integrates 3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers for intelligent, high-frequency processing of boat movements. This capability enables precise attitude analysis and contributes to ultra-fine calculations of true wind, functions directly derived from MADINTEC’s America’s Cup and Vendée Globe experience.
Precision and Integration at the Heart of the MADBrain Autopilot
As an essential proprietary module, the MAD Sensor Motion feeds critical motion data to the MADBrain processor. The MADBrain system stands out for its artificial intelligence approach to steering, offering active adaptation to wind and boat dynamics with high-frequency data acquisition up to 50 Hz. Unlike conventional autopilots that react, the MADBrain—thanks to the MAD Sensor Motion—anticipates trajectories, ensuring unmatched course stability and responsiveness, even in the most extreme conditions. This technology is adopted by top skippers in IMOCA, Ocean Fifty, Ultim, Class40, and Mini 6.50 classes, and is now accessible for cruising catamarans, IRC monohulls, and superyachts.
Performance and Modularity
The MAD Sensor Motion’s position within the MADBrain ecosystem makes it a high-performance alternative to traditional attitude sensors found in competing systems such as B&G H5000 processors or Raymarine EV-1 sensor units. Its ability to provide data for exclusive software packs like the optional Heel Security and Elite Performance packages highlights its strategic role in optimizing both safety and maximum speed. Manufactured in France, it natively integrates via the MADINTEC CAN bus, NMEA 2000-compatible, ensuring a plug-and-play installation with B&G, Garmin, and Raymarine displays and sensors.
