Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt DC Master 24/12-6 converter is designed to step down the voltage of a 24V battery bank to power 12V equipment. This non-isolated model features a direct electrical connection between input and output, delivering high efficiency and minimal heat generation. It is particularly suited for marine installations with a common negative ground. With a continuous current of 6A and a nominal power of 82W, it meets the energy needs of small onboard electronic devices.
Peak capacity and thermal design
A major advantage of this converter is its ability to supply a peak power of 136W (10A) for two minutes, ideal for handling inrush currents during startup of certain equipment. Unlike isolated models in the range (such as the isolated 24/12-6A version) that include galvanic isolation to eliminate interference, this non-isolated version prioritizes compactness (89 x 87 x 50 mm) and cost reduction while maintaining a perfectly stabilized output voltage of 13.6V. Its standby consumption is also negligible (less than 10 mA).
Installation and system integration
Built to withstand demanding environments, the housing is made of anodized aluminum and fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate, providing an IP53 protection rating against dust and oblique water splashes. Connections are made quickly using Faston terminals. The clip-based mounting system, supplied with the bracket and hardware, allows simple wall mounting in a ventilated space. It fits naturally within the range between the smaller 24/12-3A model and more powerful versions like the 24/12-12A, offering an ideal compromise for intermediate electrical loads.
