Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt DC Master 24/12 24-30A is a buck-type DC-DC voltage converter designed for recreational and semi-professional marine applications. This non-isolated model supplies 12 V equipment from a 24 V battery bank. With a stabilized output voltage of 13.6 V, it ensures reliable and safe power for onboard electronics while maintaining an extremely low standby consumption of less than 15 mA.
Electrical performance and peak handling
This converter delivers a continuous DC current of 24 A, corresponding to a nominal power of 326 W. Its key technical feature is its ability to provide a peak power of 30 A (408 W) for a maximum duration of two minutes. This reserve is ideal for handling transient current demands during startup of certain devices. The input voltage range is 20 to 32 V DC, with undamaged tolerance up to 35 V DC, ensuring resilience against fluctuations in the onboard electrical system.
Positioning: non-isolated technology
Unlike the isolated models in the DC Master range, which feature galvanic isolation to eliminate interference, this non-isolated model (reference 81400330) has a common electrical connection between input and output (negative grounded). This technical design choice delivers excellent thermal efficiency by reducing heat dissipation while maintaining a particularly compact footprint (167 x 87 x 50 mm, 0.62 kg) and a more accessible price point.
Mechanical design and installation
The housing is made of anodized aluminum and fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate, providing an IP53 protection rating against dust and water spray. Cooling is achieved via natural convection, eliminating the need for mechanical fans prone to wear. Designed for demanding environments, it operates within a temperature range of -25 °C to 80 °C (with linear derating above 30 °C). Installation is simplified thanks to Faston-type connections and the inclusion of a complete package.
