Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt Mass 24/50-2 battery charger is designed for the most demanding marine and mobile environments. Delivering a 50A charging current at 24V, this model features a three-stage automatic charging process (3-step+) that ensures fast and secure recharging of your battery banks. Unlike the ChargeMaster range, which is more suited to standard recreational installations, the Mass series is built for intensive and professional use, offering superior robustness with its C2-type housing and IP23 protection rating.
Performance and system integration
This charger has two outputs: a 50A main output for the service battery bank and a 3A secondary output dedicated to maintaining the starter battery. It is fully compatible with the MasterBus network, enabling centralized configuration, monitoring, and control from a compatible display. Supplied with a 6-meter temperature probe for thermal compensation, it ensures optimal battery life for lead-acid, gel, AGM, or lithium-ion batteries. Installation requires vertical mounting in a ventilated space, with secure connections in a dedicated compartment accessible only to qualified installers.
Reliability and safety
Built with industrial-grade components, the Mass 24/50-2 charger weighs 4.6 kg and operates on a 230V AC power supply (50-60Hz). It includes advanced protections against short circuits, polarity reversal, and overheating, with automatic power reduction above 40°C ambient to protect internal electronics. Compared to equivalent competitors such as Victron Energy’s Centaur series, Mastervolt’s Mass model stands out for its native MasterBus connectivity and its ability to maintain high-precision charging even during significant fluctuations in the electrical grid or generator output.
