Detailed description
Detailed description
The MASTERVOLT MasterBus NMEA 2000 interface is a critical gateway designed to establish robust bidirectional communication between the proprietary MasterBus network and the NMEA 2000® industry standard. This device, with part number 77031800, enables seamless integration of Mastervolt energy management systems with navigation and propulsion equipment from various brands compatible with NMEA 2000, such as B&G, Garmin, or Raymarine. It serves as a key component for any modern marine system requiring full data interoperability.
Features and Technical Capabilities
The interface manages bidirectional exchange of PGN (Parameter Group Number) data. For integrating NMEA 2000 data into MasterBus, the user selects the desired variables via the interface menu, which can be displayed on a MasterView screen or through the MasterView System software on a PC. This includes GPS position data (longitude, latitude, time, date), navigation data (waypoint, distance, bearing, ETA), speed and heading (ground, surface), environmental data (water temperature, wind speed and angle, wind direction), as well as engine parameters (RPM, oil pressure, water temperature, gear direction, engine battery voltage) and rudder angle. The five engine instances can be named for clear identification.
Conversely, to transfer MasterBus data to the NMEA 2000 network, the interface allows defining the addresses of corresponding MasterBus and NMEA variables. This advanced configuration requires an installer connection. The interface supports a wide range of NMEA 2000 PGNs for MasterBus equipment, including detailed DC battery statuses (state of charge, voltage, current, temperature), charger and inverter statuses, fluid levels, and switch bank control. Three fundamental PGNs (ISO Request 59904, ISO Address Claim 60928, Product Information 126996) are always transmitted from MasterBus to NMEA, ensuring basic system recognition.
Installation and Specifications
The interface is configured via the "Configuration" tab in MasterBus, accessible from a MasterView screen or the MasterView System software. The device is designed for mounting on a 30 mm DIN rail, facilitating integration into protected electrical panels. With a current draw of less than 40 mA and a Load Equivalency Number (LEN) of 0, it does not significantly contribute to the electrical load of the NMEA 2000 network. Its IP21 protection rating indicates resistance to vertical water droplet ingress, making it suitable for indoor installation, protected from direct splashes. Its compact dimensions of 66 x 78 x 32 mm and weight of approximately 70 grams (without cable) make it a discreet component. The interface is supplied with an NMEA cable, a MasterBus cable, a MasterBus terminator, and a user manual, ensuring a complete and standards-compliant installation. Its NMEA 2000® certification guarantees compliance and reliability within the network.
