Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt Solar ChargeMaster MPPT SCM25 solar charge regulator is the smallest MPPT regulator in its range, yet remains powerful. With a maximum charge current of 25 A and intelligent energy management, it is perfectly suited for small to medium solar installations, whether on a sailboat, motorboat, or recreational vehicle. Mastervolt’s MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology delivers peak efficiency exceeding 98 %, ensuring battery charging up to 30 % faster than traditional PWM regulators.
MPPT technology and extended compatibility
Unlike its larger siblings in the range, such as the SCM50 or SCM60, the SCM25 is designed for solar panel power ratings between 200 and 700 Wp. It is compatible with a wide variety of panels, including entry-level 60-cell models, making it highly versatile. Its automatic 12/24 V detection simplifies installation. Mastervolt’s MPPT technology, with a maximum power point tracking accuracy of 99.9 %, continuously optimizes energy production, even in low light or changing light conditions.
Simplified installation and use
The SCM25 comes with a battery temperature sensor, essential for adjusting charge voltages and extending battery life. It is suitable for all battery types: AGM, gel, flooded, and Mastervolt Lithium Ion. Battery charge profiles are selected with a single button press, and the backlit LCD screen provides clear visibility of charge status, current, and alarms. Its IP23 protection rating guards against water splashes and condensation, but it must be installed in a dry, well-ventilated location.
Built-in protections and reliability
The SCM25 includes multiple protections: overcharge, short circuits, reverse polarity, overheating, and battery over/under-voltage. An audible alarm sounds in case of malfunction. While the SCM25 is a robust regulator, it is important to note that it does not protect against overvoltage on the solar input or induced overvoltages from storms. Installing a surge protector upstream is therefore strongly recommended for optimal system protection.
