Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for coastal navigation and fishing, the Raymarine Element 12 HV is a 12-inch GPS chartplotter integrating CHIRP fishfinder capabilities and HyperVision technology. This unit features a simplified user interface with button controls, distinguishing it from touchscreen models like the Axiom from the same brand, and positions itself as a dedicated solution for high-resolution underwater detection.
HyperVision fishfinder technology
The core of the Element 12 HV lies in its HyperVision fishfinder technology, which, like FLIR’s DownVision and SideVision technologies (Raymarine’s parent company), provides detailed underwater imaging. HyperVision uses higher frequencies (1.2 MHz) than traditional CHIRP fishfinders (200 kHz or 455/800 kHz), enabling increased resolution of structures and fish down to 30 meters for DownVision and SideVision views. For deeper waters, the standard CHIRP fishfinder takes over. The HV-100+ transom-mount transducer is included to leverage these advanced features.
Navigation and connectivity
As a GPS chartplotter, the Element 12 HV offers essential navigation functions. While supplied without mapping, it is compatible with Navionics or C-MAP charts (to be purchased separately). Integrated Wi-Fi connectivity simplifies software updates and integration with mobile applications, providing flexibility for route planning or data display on other devices. Compared to the Element S series, the HV model stands out with the integration of HyperVision technology, making it more suitable for users seeking precise underwater detection for fishing or seabed exploration.
