Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine Smart Wind (RSW) wired wind sensor from Raymarine is designed to provide highly accurate apparent and true wind data for cruising and racing sailboats. Unlike traditional vane anemometers, this next-generation model integrates advanced computing power directly into the masthead, ensuring ultra-fast and reliable data transmission to Axiom displays and chartplotters.
3D Motion Compensation Technology
The RSW sensor's true strength lies in its integrated 3D AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System) motion sensor. This technology compensates in real time for the mast's pitch, roll, and yaw movements. Unlike the brand's older analog sensors, this dynamic correction allows the autopilot and navigation instruments to receive an absolute stability true wind calculation (TWD/TWS), even in rough seas or during strong gusts.
NMEA 2000 Connectivity and Network Integration
The RSW masthead sensor natively integrates into modern marine networks via the NMEA 2000 protocol. Its installation benefits from an intelligent network architecture that eliminates the need for external conversion pods. It positions itself as the technological successor to classic analog wind sensors, offering significantly higher data resolution, which is essential for fully utilizing the sailing navigation algorithms of the Evolution series autopilot computers.
