Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine SeaTalk NG 0.4m backbone cable is a fundamental component for building and extending your onboard navigation network. Designed specifically for the Raymarine ecosystem, this cable serves as the backbone through which power and NMEA 2000 data are transmitted between the various instruments, sensors, and multifunction displays on your vessel.
Reliability and NMEA 2000 integration
Equipped with female connectors at each end, this 40-centimeter cable ensures a secure and watertight connection between two SeaTalk NG connection blocks or T-connectors. While the communication protocol is based on the NMEA 2000 standard, the SeaTalk NG system uses a proprietary, robust connector format identifiable by its blue color coding for backbone cables. This design provides superior resistance to harsh marine environments compared to standard DeviceNet connectors, preventing accidental disconnections caused by vibrations.
Modular design for Raymarine networks
The 0.4m length is ideal for connecting nearby components within a console or electrical panel without creating unnecessary clutter. Unlike spur cables that connect individual devices to the network, this backbone cable is designed to handle the total network current and maintain signal integrity on the main line. It integrates seamlessly with the entire range of Raymarine instruments and chartplotters compatible with SeaTalk NG, ensuring full interoperability within the Raymarine architecture, similar to generic NMEA 2000 backbone cables for other brands like Garmin or B&G, but with the added benefit of Raymarine's reinforced connectors.
