Detailed description
Raymarine ST1000+ Tiller Pilot
The Raymarine ST1000+ autopilot is designed for sailboats up to 3000 kg displacement. Featuring a worm-drive mechanism, it provides an 8-second rudder response time from hard-over to hard-over. Its 12 VDC power supply ensures low energy consumption, with only 40 mA in standby and 90 mA with maximum lighting. This standalone system offers four main operating modes: Standby, Auto, WindTrim, and Track, allowing precise adaptation to sailing conditions.
Network integration and advanced features
Equipped with NMEA0183 and SeaTalk interfaces, the ST1000+ easily communicates with other onboard instruments, receiving heading, wind, and GPS position data for Track and WindTrim modes. It integrates the AutoSeastate function, which automatically adjusts the pilot’s deadband based on sea conditions, optimizing course holding and reducing mechanical wear. Unlike the ST2000+ model, which uses a recirculating ball drive for boats up to 4500 kg with a 4.5-second response time, the ST1000+ is positioned as the ideal solution for lighter vessels requiring a reliable and proven autopilot.
Installation and commissioning
Installing the autopilot requires adherence to two critical dimensions: 589 mm between the mounting socket and the tiller pin, and 460 mm between the rudder stock axis and the tiller pin. Extension rods and cantilever mounting brackets are available as options to adapt the autopilot to different cockpit configurations. Calibration of the integrated compass is performed simply by making slow circles at less than 2 knots, ensuring optimal magnetic heading accuracy.
