The Sleipner SE60/185S2 12V electric bow thruster is designed to simplify maneuvering for boats from 9 to 12 meters (29-38 feet). This model, suitable for bow or stern installation, delivers 60 kg of thrust at 10.5V and 73 kg at 12V, with a power output of 3.1 kW (4 hp). Its 185 mm diameter tunnel and single-propeller system are optimized for efficient integration.
Q-PROP™ Technology and Intelligent Control
Featuring Q-PROP™ technology, the SE60/185S2 uses five-blade composite skewed propellers, reducing noise by up to 75% in controlled environments while maintaining or improving thrust. The Intelligent Power Control (IPC) system minimizes delay between direction changes and monitors solenoid functions, including automatic shutdown in case of solenoid lockup to reduce mechanical wear.
Design and Safety
Installation flexibility is ensured by the ability to mount the thruster at any angle within the tunnel and to rotate the electric motor by 90 degrees. For durability, underwater components are galvanically isolated from the vessel’s electrical system to prevent stray currents and corrosion. The gearcase lubrication system is factory-sealed with ceramic and carbon surfaces for extended maintenance-free service life. An overheating protection system automatically shuts down the unit if internal temperatures rise too high. Additional safety features include a two-button activation to prevent accidental starts and automatic deactivation if the control signal remains continuous for more than 3 minutes. Connection is via Sleipner analog signal cables with Plug & Play connectors.
This thruster requires a minimum battery capacity of 350 CCA (DIN) / 665 CCA (SAE) for 12V systems, and a 250A ANL fuse is recommended. Continuous operating time is 3 minutes at 20°C.
