Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for boats from 10 to 15 meters (35 to 48 feet), the SE80 12V Sleipner electric bow thruster delivers 80 kg of thrust at 10.5V and up to 96 kg at 12V DC, ensuring precise maneuvers. This dual-propeller propulsion system is powered by a 4.4 kW (6 HP) motor and requires a tunnel diameter of 185 mm. Its weight is approximately 20 kg. For operation, a minimum battery capacity of 1045 CCA SAE (550 DIN) and a 400A fuse (SMANL400) are recommended.
Advanced propulsion technologies
The SE80 12V Sleipner features Q-PROP™ technology with five-bladed skewed propellers, designed for quieter operation, with noise reductions measured at 20 to 40% in real-world installations and up to 75% in controlled environments. The system includes intelligent control via IPC™ (Intelligent Power Control), which minimizes mechanical wear by reducing the delay between direction changes and provides automatic shutdown in case of solenoid lockup, enhancing safety and reliability. This bow thruster shares mechanical components with the Sleipner SE100 model, contributing to its energy efficiency.
Robust and secure design
For increased reliability, the bow thruster is equipped with galvanic isolation, protecting the vessel’s submerged electrical system components from stray currents. Integrated overheat protection automatically shuts down the system before any damage from high internal temperatures occurs. Gear lubrication is factory-sealed for the product’s lifespan, with a durable mechanical seal ensuring protection against water intrusion. An ignition-protected (IP) version of the SE80 is also available, designed for safe use in environments with gasoline engines.
Flexibility and integration
The Sleipner SE80 12V offers significant installation flexibility, allowing mounting at any angle within the tunnel. The electric motor can also be rotated 90 degrees on its bracket for optimal positioning. A flexible coupling protects the shaft line by compensating for minor misalignments between the motor and the gear shaft. This model is suitable for installation at the bow or stern. Additional safety features include child lock, automatic shutdown after use, protection against delayed thrust reversal, and built-in thermal protection in the motor.
