Detailed description
Detailed description
The Lynx Smart BMS 500 NG (M10) from Victron Energy is an advanced battery management system (BMS) designed specifically for Victron’s lithium NG (next-generation) batteries. It is the most feature-rich and comprehensive BMS option available for this series of lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, offering seamless integration with the Lynx distribution system and M10 products. This BMS ensures optimal management and protection against deep discharge and overcharging for battery banks configured at 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V, with a maximum energy storage capacity of 192 kWh at 12 V and up to 384 kWh at 24 V or 48 V. It supports connections for up to 50 12 V or 24 V batteries, and up to 25 48 V batteries, with the ability to parallel multiple Lynx Smart BMS NG units for increased capacity and system redundancy.
Integrated safety and control
This BMS includes a 500 A continuous (600 A peak for 5 minutes) safety contactor that acts as a secondary safety mechanism, protecting the battery in case of primary control failure (ATC, ATD, or DVCC). It can also be used as the main system switch, controllable remotely. An integrated precharge circuit prevents excessive inrush currents when connecting capacitive loads such as inverters, eliminating the need for external precharge devices. The Lynx Smart BMS 500 NG (M10) features a battery controller that provides real-time monitoring of state of charge (SoC), voltage, current, and historical data, accessible via the VictronConnect app or a GX device such as the Cerbo GX, with instant readings for quick diagnostics.
Connectivity and system integration
The Lynx Smart BMS 500 NG (M10) communicates via Bluetooth for configuration and diagnostics with VictronConnect, and via VE.Can for integration with GX devices and the VRM portal. It supports the NMEA 2000 protocol, facilitating integration into marine networks to supply multifunction displays (MFD) with data. It provides ATC/ATD contacts for controlling external chargers and consumers, as well as a programmable relay for alarm or alternator control functions. Compared to the standard Lynx Smart BMS (non-NG), this version is specifically optimized for Victron Lithium NG batteries, supporting a higher number of batteries and greater maximum energy capacity while maintaining M10 compatibility for seamless integration with the Lynx distribution system. The AUX port supplies 1.1 A auxiliary power to keep critical devices, such as a GX device, powered even after a low cell voltage event.
