Detailed description
Detailed description
The Victron Energy MultiPlus 12/500/20-16 230V VE.Bus is a versatile power solution integrating a pure sine wave inverter, an adaptive battery charger, and a high-speed AC transfer switch. Designed for 230V AC output, this compact unit offers intelligent energy management features for marine and mobile applications.
Integrated Inverter and Charger
The MultiPlus 12/500/20-16 delivers a continuous output power of 500 VA (430W) at 25°C, with a peak power of 900W, and a maximum efficiency of 90%. Its standby consumption is 6W, reduced to 2W in search mode. It features an adaptive four-stage battery charger, providing a charging current of 20A for the service battery and 1A for a secondary starter battery. The 16A AC transfer switch ensures fast transition.
Advanced Energy Management Features
This system includes an inverter function (UPS) that automatically activates the inverter in less than 20 milliseconds in case of external power failure, ensuring continuity for sensitive equipment. PowerControl and PowerAssist functions are present: PowerControl limits shore power or generator current to avoid overloads, while PowerAssist boosts limited AC sources by drawing power from the battery during peak demand. Search mode reduces consumption when no load is present.
Connectivity and Reliability
The MultiPlus 12/500/20-16 is equipped with a VE.Bus communication port (RJ45), enabling remote monitoring and control via a Victron GX device and the VRM portal. It includes a programmable relay and a battery temperature sensor for optimized charging. Its design uses a full-bridge topology with toroidal transformer for short-circuit and overheating protection. With dimensions of 311 x 182 x 100 mm and a weight of 4.4 kg, it is protected to IP21 standards and operates between -40 and +65°C. Connections include a 16 mm² battery connection and AC connection via a G-ST18i connector. The DC input accepts a voltage range of 9.5 to 17V, with an AC output of 230V ± 2% at 50 Hz ± 0.1% (adjustable to 60Hz).
