Detailed description
Designed for autonomous marine systems, mobile or isolated, the MultiPlus 24/3000/70-16 by Victron Energy is a versatile inverter-charger. It combines a pure sine wave inverter of 3000 VA, a sophisticated 70 A battery charger with adaptive charging technology, and a fast 16 A AC transfer switch in a compact unit. This model is intended for efficient energy management and continuous power supply, providing a 230 V AC output at 50 Hz, with a maximum efficiency of 93-94% and a peak power of 6000 W.
Advanced energy management features
The MultiPlus 24/3000/70-16 stands out for its ability to supply uninterrupted AC power thanks to its UPS function. In case of grid or generator failure, it automatically switches to the inverter in less than 20 milliseconds, ensuring continuity for sensitive equipment. It features two AC outputs: a main output with "no-break" function and a second output active only when AC power is available, ideal for non-priority loads.
The management of limited AC sources is optimized by PowerControl and PowerAssist functions. PowerControl automatically reduces the battery charging current to prevent overload of generators or shore power connections. PowerAssist, a unique feature, supplements the capacity of the limited AC source by adding inverter power from the battery during peak demand, allowing high-consumption devices to be used even with limited power supply.
Adaptive charging and system integration
The adaptive four-stage battery charger (bulk – absorption – float – storage) intelligently adjusts to the battery's condition to prevent overcharging and extend its lifespan. Variable absorption voltage and the BatterySafe mode protect against excessive gassing. The storage mode reduces float voltage after 24 hours of inactivity to minimize aging. The MultiPlus also features a VE.Bus port for extended integration and control with other Victron devices and can be configured via DIP switches, a VE.Net panel, or a PC. Its parallel (up to six units) and three-phase operation capability offers flexibility for larger systems, positioning it above basic single-unit inverter-chargers and as an alternative to the Quattro for installations requiring only a single AC input.
