Victron Energy’s VE.Can communication protocol is an advanced interface designed to optimize the management of marine and standalone power systems. It enables robust interconnection and precise coordination between Victron Energy components, particularly SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers. This networking capability is critical for complex installations requiring unified energy management.
Advanced synchronization and management
Integrating VE.Can into SmartSolar MPPT solar charge controllers, such as the 150/70, 150/85, or 150/100 models, provides parallel synchronization features. This interface allows up to 25 units to be daisy-chained, ensuring all controllers operate in phase—whether in bulk, absorption, or float charging. This functionality exceeds Bluetooth synchronization limits (10 units) and enables efficient load distribution. Unlike standalone controller setups that may not coordinate charging phases, this approach extends battery life and improves overall system efficiency. Monitoring and control are centralized via a GX device like the Color Control GX or remotely via the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal.
Performance and system integration
Products integrating VE.Can, such as SmartSolar MPPT chargers, deliver over 98% conversion efficiency and ultra-fast maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technology.
