Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for commercial vessels and offshore sailboats, the YB3i beacon from YB Tracking is a fixed tracking system leveraging the global coverage of the Iridium satellite network. Unlike portable beacons in the range, this model is optimized for permanent installation on board, offering direct 12/24V DC power (9-30V) via a supplied 5-meter robust cable. Its Maxtena 1621 patch antenna ensures reliable transmission of positions and data, even in harsh sea conditions.
Reliability and backup power
A major advantage of the YB3i beacon is its internal backup battery. In case of a main power failure onboard, the system automatically switches to this battery, providing up to two weeks of autonomous operation. This feature is critical for safety and continuous tracking of distressed vessels. Additionally, its power consumption is extremely low, with a maximum of 500 mA during transmission and an ultra-low power sleep mode below 30 mA.
Rugged design and advanced connectivity
The compact housing (137 mm diameter by 40 mm height) is built to withstand the harshest marine environments. Certified IP68 and IP69, it is fully dustproof and resistant to prolonged immersion, with an operating temperature range from -30 °C to 60 °C. The beacon also allows remote reconfiguration (Over-the-air) of the tracking frequency. Depending on integration options, it can support GSM modules to reduce communication costs near coasts, as well as Bluetooth LE and NMEA interfaces for seamless communication with onboard electronics.
