Recycling and the environment
Last updated: 05/03/2026
At Skysat, we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations and supporting our customers in the responsible management of their end-of-life equipment. This page informs you of your rights and our obligations regarding the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment and batteries.
Electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
Do not throw your equipment in the trash.
The majority of products marketed by Skysat — navigation electronics, VHF radios, radars, displays, sensors, chargers, converters, autopilots, digital switching systems, LED lighting, etc. — are electrical and electronic equipment (EEA) as defined in European Directive 2012/19/EU.
These devices contain components that can be recycled, but also substances that are potentially hazardous to the environment if not treated properly. It is forbidden to throw them away with unsorted household waste.
The symbol below, affixed to the products, serves as a reminder of this obligation:
♻ ⊗ Crossed-out trash can symbol (WEEE)
Eco-participation
The price of each piece of electrical and electronic equipment sold by Skysat includes a eco-participation (or "eco-contribution"). This amount, indicated on the product sheet and on your invoice, finances the collection, depollution and recycling of end-of-life equipment by approved eco-organizations.
Eco-participation is not a tax: it is a mandatory environmental contribution that helps to finance electronic waste treatment channels.
Where to dispose of your used equipment?
You have several free options for disposing of your used equipment:
1. At the waste disposal center Take your equipment to your nearest recycling center. All French recycling centers accept WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) free of charge. To find your nearest recycling center: → www.ecosystem.eco/les-points-de-collecte
2. In our premises You can drop off your old marine electronics equipment at our premises:
SKYSAT 6 Rue de l'Oppidum, Pa de Bosseno 56340 Carnac Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
3. "1 for 1" rematch When you purchase new equipment of the same type, you can return your old equipment to us free of charge. Contact our customer service department before your purchase to arrange the return: → sav@skysat.fr — +33 2 97 52 14 52
What happens to your equipment?
The collected equipment is handled by approved eco-organizations which ensure:
- there pollution cleanup : extraction of hazardous substances (lead, mercury, refrigerant gases);
- THE dismantling : separation of materials (metals, plastics, glass, printed circuits);
- THE recycling : reintroduction of raw materials into the production cycle;
- there energy recovery : for non-recyclable components.
In France, the WEEE recycling rate reaches more than 80% thanks to these channels.
Packaging
Recycling of delivery packaging
The packaging used to ship your orders (cardboard boxes, packing materials, protective films) is recyclable. Please place it in your local recycling bins.
Whenever possible, we reuse packaging for our shipments. If you receive a package in a reused cardboard box, it's a deliberate choice to limit our waste production.
Professional packaging
Professional customers are responsible for recycling their packaging through the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) schemes applicable to their business, in accordance with current regulations.
Our commitments
Source reduction We optimize our packaging to reduce volume and weight, while ensuring product protection during transport. We prioritize recyclable and recycled materials.
Responsible waste management The waste generated by our workshop activities (cable scraps, defective components, supplier packaging) is sorted and directed to the appropriate recycling channels.
Awareness We inform our customers about best practices for the end-of-life management of their equipment, via this page, our product sheets and our communications.
