Detailed description
Detailed description
The GMR Fantom™ 24x radome from Garmin provides long-range radar detection with ultra-fast short-pulse technology. It connects via Garmin BlueNet™ or Garmin Marine Network with an adapter, compatible with recent Garmin chartplotters. Powered at 10-32 Vdc, it includes an inline fuse and supports cable extensions up to 6 m with 12 AWG gauge.
Technical positioning within the Garmin range
Within the GMR Fantom™ family, this 24x model outperforms the GMR Fantom 24 with faster rotation and increased power, ideal for medium to large vessels. Compared to the more compact GMR Fantom 18x, it offers greater range and reduced angular resolution thanks to its 24-inch (60 cm) diameter. Against Raymarine Quantum 2 or B&G 4G radomes, the Fantom 24x excels in refresh rate and native Garmin network integration, with an optimized horizontal beam of 12.5° and vertical beam above and below the radiating element.
Installation and technical considerations
Surface mounting with supplied M8 x 60 mm threaded rods, torque 13.7-18.6 N·m. Minimum RF safety distance respected; high installation recommended above the waterline to minimize blind spots. Network and power wiring via lockable ports, optional grommets for watertight passages. Status LEDs: green flashing operational, red solid startup, orange software update.
