Detailed description
Detailed description
The Iridium GO satellite Wi-Fi hotspot transforms your smartphone or tablet into a true global communication tool. Leveraging the Iridium satellite network, it provides 100% global coverage, pole to pole, allowing you to stay connected even in the most remote maritime areas. Designed for sailors and expeditions, this compact router (4.5" x 3.25" x 1.25") creates a local Wi-Fi network with a range of approximately 30 meters (802.11g/n standard) to connect your mobile devices.
Connectivity and safety at sea
The Iridium GO integrates a dedicated GPS receiver and a physical SOS button, directly configurable with the GEOS emergency coordination center. In addition to voice calls, it optimizes data transfer for maritime applications, allowing users to download weather files or send emails via dedicated compression applications. Its battery life is ensured by a rechargeable battery (500mA) that charges in 4 to 5 hours via USB. Unlike traditional portable satellite phones such as the Iridium 9555, it displays the interface on your own screen for modern ergonomics.
Positioning within the Iridium range
Although the brand recently introduced the Iridium GO! exec, offering higher IP speeds via the Certus network, the standard Iridium GO model remains the most tried and tested, cost-effective solution for essential offshore navigation needs: low-bandwidth weather routing, text messaging, and security. Its foldable antenna also serves as a power switch, ensuring simple and robust operation in the face of the elements.
