Designed to optimize solar energy harvesting, the BlueSolar MPPT 150/45 charge controller from VICTRON ENERGY is an MPPT regulator that efficiently manages battery charging from photovoltaic panels. This model ensures energy conversion with a maximum efficiency of over 98%, without requiring a cooling fan, and maintains its full output power up to 40 °C.
Advanced MPPT Technology for Maximum Harvesting
The BlueSolar MPPT 150/45 features ultra-fast maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technology. This function is particularly advantageous under cloudy skies or when light intensity varies rapidly, improving energy harvesting by up to 30% compared to PWM controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers. Its innovative maximum power point detection algorithm manages partial shading conditions by identifying the optimal MPP, thus avoiding getting stuck on a less efficient local power point. It supports a maximum PV open-circuit voltage of 150 V and a maximum PV short-circuit current of 50 A.
Flexibility and System Protection
This controller is compatible with 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V battery systems (with 36 V option via software) and provides a nominal charging current of 45 A. The supported nominal PV power is 650 W for a 12 V system, 1300 W for 24 V, 1950 W for 36 V, and 2600 W for 48 V. The BlueSolar MPPT 150/45 has a fully programmable charging algorithm, complemented by eight pre-programmed algorithms selectable via a rotary switch, suitable for various battery types (AGM, Gel, Lithium). It includes electronic protections against overheating (with power derating), short circuits, and PV polarity reversal, as well as PV reverse currents. An internal temperature sensor ensures compensation of absorption and float charge voltages.
Connectivity and Monitoring
The controller integrates Bluetooth Smart, enabling configuration, monitoring, and updates via the VictronConnect app. The VE.Direct port provides a wired connection to devices such as the Color Control GX or other GX products, as well as to a PC. External voltage and battery temperature sensing options via Bluetooth are available with the Smart Battery Sense or a BMV-712 Smart battery monitor. It supports recovery of fully discharged batteries, including Li-ion batteries with integrated disconnect function. Its own consumption is 20 mA at 12 V, 15 mA at 24 V, and 10 mA at 48 V. The enclosure is rated IP43 for electronic components and IP22 for the connection area, ensuring robustness for marine and off-grid environments.
