The Victron Energy VE.Can solar charge controller is part of the SmartSolar MPPT range, known for optimizing photovoltaic energy harvesting. It features an ultra-fast MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithm capable of improving energy production by up to 30% compared to PWM controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers, particularly under cloudy skies where light intensity varies continuously.
Performance and energy management
This controller integrates advanced maximum power point detection, even under partial shading conditions, ensuring the system always locks onto the optimal MPP. With a maximum conversion efficiency exceeding 98% and no cooling fan, it operates silently and efficiently. It supports battery voltages of 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V with automatic detection (36 V can be manually configured), and the SCC115085511 model offers a nominal charge capacity of 85 A. It is part of the SmartSolar MPPT 150/70 to 150/100 VE.Can series, which provides charge currents from 70 A to 100 A. The supported nominal PV power ranges from 1000 W to 5800 W depending on system voltage. Compared to SmartSolar MPPT models without VE.Can interface, this series allows for more extensive networking and advanced synchronization.
Connectivity and system integration
The Victron Energy VE.Can solar charge controller is equipped with built-in Bluetooth Smart for configuration, monitoring, and updates via the VictronConnect app. It also features VE.Direct and VE.Can ports for wired connection to GX devices such as the Color Control GX or other Victron Energy products. The VE.Can function enables synchronization of up to 25 units in parallel for large-scale solar installations, offering a far more scalable solution than systems limited to a few units via Bluetooth (max. 10 units). It includes comprehensive electronic protections, such as protection against overheating, PV short circuits, and PV polarity reversal. A programmable relay and a fully discharged battery recovery function, including Li-ion batteries with integrated disconnection, complete its features. An optional plug-in LCD screen is available for direct local monitoring on the device.
