The 52-foot Barreau/Neuman catamaran built by Multiplast
The MG5 is a 52-foot cruiser-racer catamaran designed byChristophe Barreau and Fred Neumanfor Marc Guillemot. The carbon hulls were built byMultiplast (delivery December 2020), final assembly took place in Saint-Philibert (Morbihan), and the boat was launched in 2021. It sails under the colors of Metarom.

Organic photovoltaic sail and recovered parts
The MG5 is the first sailboat fitted with anorganic photovoltaic sail developed by Héole (Vannes), which powers the onboard electronics and a desalinator. The project also incorporates a circular economy approach: the mast comes from Jean Le Cam’s previous IMOCA, the daggerboards from Damien Seguin’s IMOCA, the rudders from Jérémie Beyou’s IMOCA, the rigging from Safran and Gitana, and the fittings from Spindrift.
Boat achievements
- Route du Rhum 2022 — 3rd in Rhum Multi class with Marc Guillemot, in 16 days 17 hours 51 minutes.
