Pogo Structures
Pogo Structures: Hull engineering for planing and vacuum-infused composite
Overview & Expertise
Based in Combrit Sainte-Marine, Pogo Structures has become, under the leadership of its founder Christian Bouroullec, the benchmark hub for building lightweight units dedicated to fast cruising and offshore racing. The shipyard’s philosophy is built on an unchanging triptych: controlled weight, form stability and simplicity of handling.
Pogo Structures’ expertise relies on the widespread use of vacuum infusion for all composite parts (hull, deck, internal structures). This mastery ensures an optimal resin/fiber ratio, guaranteeing the structural stiffness required for hulls capable of planing even in moderate wind conditions. Historical collaborations with naval architecture firms such as Finot-Conq, Sam Manuard, and Guillaume Verdier have enabled the shipyard to transfer innovations from racing (hard-chine hulls, scow bows) to the high-end cruising segment.
Flagship Models & Achievements
The shipyard’s catalog is divided into three distinct ranges, covering pure racing, fast cruising, and efficient motoryachts:
- Mini 6.50 Series (Pogo 1, 2, 3): A true historical pillar of the shipyard, these units have trained generations of skippers and dominated the Mini Class with their robustness.
- Class 40 Series (S Series): From the original Pogo 40 to the recent Pogo 40S4 V2, these hulls designed by Verdier are benchmarks in terms of downwind power and seaworthiness.
- Cruising Range (Pogo 30, 36, 44, 50): Fast cruising units equipped with lifting keels and streamlined interiors. The Pogo 44 exemplifies the successful integration of the scow bow on a cruising sailboat.
- Loxo 32 & 35: The shipyard’s foray into motorboats with ultra-light cruising units optimized for minimal fuel consumption at cruising speeds of 10 to 15 knots.
