3 installation errors seen in the workshop — all brands included

  1. Missing or undersized class T fuse.

    The NH fuse is insufficient — Icc lithium exceeds 30 kA. Class T calibrated at max BMS current + 20%.

  2. Incompatible LFP alternator regulator left in place.

    The lead profile (3 phases) destroys the cells. Wakespeed WS500, Balmar MC-614 or Victron Orion XS mandatory.

  3. No DC-DC isolator between alternator and BMS.

    Without a Load Dump absorber, the BMS triggers during charging → overvoltage → alternator diodes burned out.

The datasheet cycle ratings do not reflect real-world usage — thermal profile and BMS programming quality have a greater impact on battery longevity.
