Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine P79S SmartDucer adhesive depth sounder transducer (part number A80373) is designed for installation without hull penetration. This depth and temperature sensor, of the "adhesive" type, is an alternative to through-hull or transom-mount transducers, offering discreet integration and enhanced protection of the transducer inside the boat.
Integration and NMEA 2000 connectivity
As a "SmartDucer", the P79S integrates processing electronics directly into the transducer, enabling simplified connection to the NMEA 2000 network via its DeviceNet connector. This feature distinguishes the P79S from passive transducers, which require an external sounder module to interpret data. It directly transmits depth and temperature data to the network, making it available to all multifunction displays (MFDs) and NMEA 2000-compatible instruments on board, including Raymarine, B&G, or Garmin displays.
Positioning and applications
The P79S SmartDucer is positioned as a practical solution for sailboat or fiberglass powerboat owners who wish to avoid hull penetration. Unlike through-hull transducers such as the B164 or B744V models, the P79S poses no risk of leaks and is less susceptible to damage from underwater impacts. It offers adjustable keel-angle compensation, optimizing beam performance for accurate depth readings.
