Detailed description
Detailed description
The Victron Energy VE.Bus BMS is a battery management system designed to protect individual cells of Victron lithium-fer-phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP) batteries against overvoltage, undervoltage, and overheating. Compatible with 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V systems, it integrates with Victron LiFePO4 batteries equipped with BTV (balancing, temperature and voltage monitoring) via M8 circular connectors, allowing chaining of multiple BTVs. This BMS enables the creation of battery banks up to five units in parallel and four in series, supporting for example a 48 V bank up to 1500 Ah.
Communication and system protection
This BMS communicates with MultiPlus, Quattro inverters/chargers, and Phoenix inverters via a standard UTP RJ45 cable, with an operating voltage range of 9 to 70 V DC. It ensures system safety by disconnecting loads in case of imminent cell undervoltage and by reducing charging current or disconnecting battery chargers in case of overvoltage or overheating. For non-VE.Bus products, it features dedicated outputs: a load disconnection output (max 2 A) and a charger disconnection output (max 10 mA), plus a pre-alarm output (max 1 A) that activates 30 seconds before load disconnection.
Positioning and technical specifications
The VE.Bus BMS is designed to protect Victron LiFePO4 batteries in 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V systems and communicates with MultiPlus, Quattro inverters/chargers, and Phoenix inverters via a standard UTP RJ45 cable. Blue and red LEDs indicate operating status and alerts (cell > 4 V or temperature, cell > 2.8 V). Its matte black ABS housing, with IP20 protection rating, weighs 0.1 kg and measures 105 x 78 x 32 mm, providing a compact solution for installation in protected environments.
