Pogo S4 Verdier #192, from brand new listing to RORC podium
The Class 40 Gambit (formerly Faimead on initial quote, then Seahorse Magazine at listing) is hull #192, a Pogo S4 designed by Guillaume Verdier and built by Pogo Structures in Combrit. Launched in 2022, brand new and never raced, the boat was listed for sale via Owen Clarke in 2023 and then acquired by British skipper Daniel Jones, who renamed it Gambit. It then changed hands again to join Andrew Hurst under the name Type2Fun.
Hull design: the Verdier scow hullform
The Pogo S4 is the fourth Class 40 built by Pogo Structures, produced since 2021. The hullform selected by Verdier after CFD iterations features a scow bow with a detached forefoot, chines running from bow to transom for stiffness, and a fine stern for planing and glide. The rudders, long and tapered, are transom-mounted and can be raised when close-hauled. Torpedo bulb keel in lead.
Vacuum infusion construction. Standard Class 40 dimensions: 12.19 m LOA, 4.42 m beam, 3 m draft, 4,580 kg (class minimum). Sail area: 115 m² upwind, 268 m² downwind. Carbon rigging configurable with one or two spreaders, positioned aft to optimize weight distribution.
