Pogo Structures: Planing Hull and Infused Composite Engineering

Presentation & Expertise

Based in Combrit Sainte-Marine, Pogo Structures has become, under the impetus of its founder Christian Bouroullec, the reference center for the construction of lightweight units dedicated to fast cruising and offshore racing. The shipyard's philosophy is based on an immutable triptych: controlled weight, shape stability and ease of handling.

Pogo Structures' expertise relies on the generalization of vacuum infusion for all composite parts (hull, deck, internal structures). This mastery allows for an optimal resin/fiber ratio, guaranteeing the structural stiffness essential for hulls capable of planing even in medium wind conditions. Historical collaborations with naval architecture firms such as Finot-Conq, Sam Manuard or Guillaume Verdier have enabled the shipyard to transpose racing innovations (chined hulls, scow bows) to the offshore cruising segment.

Flagship Models and Achievements

The shipyard's catalog is divided into three distinct ranges, covering pure competition, fast cruising, and efficient motor yachts:

  • Mini 6.50 Series (Pogo 1, 2, 3): A true historical pillar of the shipyard, these units have trained generations of skippers and dominated the Mini Class with their robustness.
  • Class 40 (S Series): From the original Pogo 40 to the recent Pogo 40S4 V2, these Verdier-designed hulls are benchmarks in terms of downwind power and seaworthiness.
  • Cruising Range (Pogo 30, 36, 44, 50): Fast cruising units, equipped with lifting keels and streamlined interior volumes. The Pogo 44 exemplifies the successful integration of the scow bow on a cruising sailboat.
  • Loxo 32 & 35: The shipyard's foray into motorboating with ultra-light cruising units, optimized for minimal fuel consumption at cruising speeds of 10 to 15 knots.
