Sistership of Charal, designed by VPLP, built by Multiplast in 2019

DMG Mori Global One (official alias Spirit of Yukoh V, Shiraishi convention since 1994) is an IMOCA 60 with foils designed by VPLP design, structure Gurit, built by Multiplast in Vannes and launched on September 2, 2019. The boat was built from the same molds as Charal (Jérémie Beyou, 2018), rented for the occasion, with a few modifications requested by Kōjirō Shiraishi’s team. Build time: 30,000 hours over 9 months.

Boat achievements (Kōjirō Shiraishi at the helm)

  • 2020: 10th in the Vendée-Arctique-Les Sables-d'Olonne (first shakedown).
  • 2020-2021: 16th in the Vendée Globe in 94 days 21 hours 32 minutes 56 seconds. First Asian to complete the race.
  • 2022: 14th in the Bermudes 1000 Race, 20th in the Vendée-Arctique.
  • 2024: 15th in the New York Vendée.
  • 2024-2025: 24th in the Vendée Globe in 90 days 21 hours 34 minutes 41 seconds, despite damage to five mainsail battens after two accidental gybes in the Indian Ocean. Faster than in 2020 on the same boat.

Next

The DMG Mori Sailing Team announced in July 2024 a new IMOCA entrusted to Guillaume Verdier and Multiplast for The Ocean Race 2027. DMG Mori Global One remains Shiraishi’s VPLP-Multiplast IMOCA for two consecutive Vendée Globe campaigns (2020-21 and 2024-25).
