VPLP Design: architects of performance and innovation
For over 40 years, the VPLP Design firm (founded by Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prévost) has dominated global naval architecture. Based in Vannes and Paris, they are the undisputed fathers of the modern multihull, whether designed to shatter oceanic records or to deliver absolute comfort during cruising.
A legendary signature in offshore racing
If trimarans fly above the water today, it is largely thanks to them. VPLP has designed the fastest sailboats in history. From the legendary Pierre 1er by Florence Arthaud to today's flying Ultims, via Geronimo (Mieux) or Banque Populaire, their record of achievements is unmatched. They have established the multihull as the ultimate speed tool, winning the Route du Rhum, the Jules Verne Trophy, and the Vendée Globe multiple times (in collaboration with Verdier).
From competition to high-end cruising
VPLP's genius extends beyond competition. They are also the architects behind the global success of Lagoon catamarans and design visionary sail and motor superyachts (such as the Hemisphere, the world's largest sailing catamaran). Their approach is unique: transferring cutting-edge technologies validated in racing (carbon fiber, lightweight construction, hydrodynamics) to the world of luxury cruising.
- Aerodynamics and weight: On these carbon "dragonflies", every gram of cable and every antenna location must be optimized to avoid disrupting the clean lines designed by the architects.
- Load management: The speeds achieved by VPLP designs require autopilots and sensors capable of reacting within milliseconds.
