Fast cruiser custom 70-foot sailboat by Finot-Conq, delivered by JFA in 2018

Basyc is a 22.20 m LOA offshore cruising sailboat designed by Finot-Conq and built as a single unit by JFA Yachts in Concarneau. Hull number 27C, delivered early 2018. The model is designated FC²70 (Finot Conq x Fast Cruiser, 70 feet), a fast cruiser variant of the FC56 line.

Architecture and construction

Aluminum hull, deck and coachroof in fiberglass/epoxy infusion, bonded-bolted assembly — a mixed method that reduces weight compared to an all-aluminum build at this size. Carbon rigging, composite swing keel with lead ballast (draft 2.05 m / 4.40 m), twin rudders, two thrusters (bow and stern) for single-shaft harbor maneuvering. Stern garage for 3.40 m tender. Interior layout designed by Pierre Forgia (zebrano veneer on white backgrounds), full-width owner’s cabin forward, two guest cabins aft, crew cabin.

Technical specifications

  • Waterline length: 21.35 m
  • Beam: 6.28 m
  • Draft: 2.05 m / 4.40 m (swing keel)
  • Air draft: 31 m
  • Light displacement: 29 t
  • Sail area: 280 m² upwind, 456 m² downwind
  • Rigging: sloop, carbon mast and boom
  • Propulsion: Volvo D4 180 hp inline shaft drive, Onan 19 kW generator

Program

Specification built around a long-range cruising program: transatlantic to South America planned for early 2020, round-the-world voyage with reduced crew. Cockpit design (mainsheet on arch, single-person tender launch) meets the requirement for light crew on a 70-foot platform.
