JMV Industries
JMV Industries was a French shipyard based in Cherbourg-Octeville, founded in 1992 and specializing in the construction of racing sailboats made of composite materials. A subsidiary of the CMN group (Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie), the shipyard made history in offshore racing by building iconic boats. JMV Industries notably distinguished itself by building the Geodis, which won the 1996-1997 Vendée Globe with Christophe Auguin at the helm, as well as the famous maxi-catamaran Mari-Cha IV.
The shipyard mastered cutting-edge composite construction techniques, using carbon laminations and vacuum infusion processes to ensure lightness and strength. JMV Industries worked in close collaboration with the greatest French naval architects to produce boats meeting the strictest requirements of offshore racing. The shipyard also participated in the construction of floats and structural elements for numerous racing trimarans and catamarans.
The JMV Industries shipyard has ceased its operations permanently. After being dormant since 2012, the company was dissolved by its parent company on February 7, 2023. Despite its closure, the legacy of JMV Industries lives on through the many boats it built, which continue to sail the world's oceans, testifying to the quality and durability of its constructions.
