The AIRMAR SS904 is a through-hull Side Scan CHIRP sonar designed for detailed underwater imaging. It is specifically optimized for Furuno NavNet TZtouch3 and NavNet TZtouchXL multifunction displays, offering direct integration and precise side imaging performance.
High-frequency CHIRP technology
Operating on a CHIRP frequency range of 220 to 240 kHz, this sonar delivers superior resolution for clear separation between underwater targets. CHIRP technology enhances fish detection and bottom tracking, even at high boat speeds, by optimizing the signal-to-noise ratio. It also enables recognition of haloclines and thermoclines for better understanding of the marine environment.
Performance and range
With 150 W per side (300 W total), the SS904 provides a maximum side range of 200 meters and a maximum depth of 200 meters. It can track up to 30 knots (35 MPH), with optimal performance between 1.5 and 8.5 knots (2 and 10 MPH). These capabilities make it suitable for structure detection, seabed characterization, and survey-type navigation.
Construction and installation
The stainless steel housing ensures durability and corrosion resistance suitable for marine environments. The through-hull installation guarantees reliable acoustic coupling and clear imaging, particularly beneficial at high speeds. The shoe can accommodate a hull deadrise angle of up to 22°, with a fairing strongly recommended if the angle exceeds 10°. The sonar also integrates a water temperature sensor.

The SS904 features a Furuno 12-pin connector and a 12-meter cable, ensuring compatibility with NavNet TZtouch3 models (TZT12F, TZT16F, TZT19F) and NavNet TZtouchXL models (TZT10X, TZT13X, TZT16X).
