Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G H5000 Hydra base pack is the core of a navigation instrumentation system designed for cruising and racing sailboats. This kit includes the H5000 Hydra central processing unit (CPU) and the H5000 graphical display, providing accurate data and advanced functions via a fast and intuitive interface.
H5000 Hydra central processing unit
The H5000 Hydra central processing unit features an ultra-fast ARM processor, delivering up to 50 times the processing speed of the previous generation. It centralizes and processes sensor data before distributing it over the network. System configuration, calibration, and diagnostics are performed via an integrated web interface, accessible from a PC, tablet, or smartphone via the Ethernet port. Network connectivity includes 2 NMEA 0183 ports, 1 Ethernet port, and 1 NMEA 2000 Micro-C port. Power supply is 12V DC (10-16V DC) with a typical consumption of 2.4W. The housing is IPX5 waterproof certified.
H5000 graphical display
The H5000 graphical display integrates a 5-inch TFT-LCD color screen with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels. Its optically bonded design eliminates condensation and maximizes readability in full sunlight, complemented by wide viewing angles. It displays navigation data in numerical or graphical format, including specific functions such as SailSteer and Start Line. Connection to the network is via a NMEA 2000 Micro-C port. Power consumption is 1.9W (typical) and 2.4W (maximum), and its robust housing is IPX7 waterproof certified.
Positioning within the H5000 range
The Hydra level represents the entry point of the H5000 system. It targets experienced cruisers and club racers, offering all essential navigation functions and proven B&G calculation algorithms. It differs from the higher Hercules and Performance levels. Hercules, aimed at advanced racers, adds features such as polar table support and 3D motion wind correction. The Performance level, for professional racers and superyachts, offers even more advanced calibration options. The H5000 system ensures compatibility with H3000 range sensors, facilitating future upgrades.
