Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G HALO20+ dome radar is a compact 20-inch (510 mm) solution that utilizes pulse compression technology to provide accurate short-, medium-, and long-range detection up to 36 nautical miles. Designed for comprehensive situational awareness, it incorporates Doppler VelocityTrack™ technology for collision avoidance and can track up to 10 MARPA targets (20 in dual-range mode). Positioned above the HALO20 radar, the HALO20+ is distinguished by its ultra-fast 60 rpm rotation speed at short range and the addition of Doppler technology.
Performance at 60 rpm and dual range
The HALO20+ radar offers a 60 RPM rotation for ranges up to 1.5 nautical miles, providing near-instantaneous updates essential for collision avoidance with fast-moving targets. Pulse compression technology with beam refinement ensures optimal detection across all range scales. The Dual Range function allows simultaneous monitoring of two different range scales, for example, to monitor a distant weather cell while keeping an eye on nearby collision hazards. The radar is operational within seconds from a complete shutdown thanks to InstantOn™ technology and instantly resumes from low-power sleep mode.
Integrated VelocityTrack™ Doppler Technology
VelocityTrack™ technology provides instant visual feedback on target movement relative to your vessel. A simple color-coded system identifies approaching (highlighted) and receding targets, enhancing situational awareness and reducing the risk of collision. The HALO20+ radar automatically scans every target within range, eliminating the need for manual target selection. Multiple operating modes are available (Harbour, Offshore, Weather, Birds) to adjust signal processing according to navigational conditions.
Technical specifications of the HALO20+
The 510 mm diameter and 223 mm high radome weighs 5.9 kg. It is powered by a 12/24V DC system (10.5 - 31.2V DC) with a typical power consumption of 20W and a maximum of 29W. The detection range extends from 50 meters to 36 nautical miles. The beamwidth is 4.9° horizontally (2.5° with target separation) and 25° vertically. It is IPX6 rated for water resistance, and the operating temperature range is -25°C to +55°C. The package includes the radar dome, a 20-meter cable, a 1.5-meter RJ45 to 5-pin Ethernet adapter, and mounting hardware.
