Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G WS310 horizontal wired anemometer is designed for cruising and racing sailors who demand maximum accuracy and reliability of wind data. The result of over 500 wind tunnel tests and thousands of hours of sailing, its aerodynamic design ensures consistent and precise measurements. Unlike its wireless counterpart, the WS320, the WS310 uses a wired connection for uncompromising data integrity, eliminating any risk of interference and requiring no batteries.
Data performance and accuracy
The sensor provides wind angle data with an accuracy of +/- 0.5° and a resolution of 0.1°. The wind speed measurement range extends from 0.25 to 50 m/s (0.5 to 97 knots), with an accuracy of +/- 0.1 m/s (0.2 kt) between 1 and 40 m/s and a resolution of 0.05 m/s (0.1 knot). These performance levels are validated to ensure reliability across all heel angles.
Technical specifications and installation
The WS310 weighs 0.30 kg and is designed to withstand the marine environment with an IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof rating. Its operating temperature range is -25°C to +65°C. Power consumption is 15 mA at 12 V DC. Wired installation is achieved via a single mast cable, available in optional lengths of 20, 35, 50, and 80 meters to suit various configurations.
Connectivity and compatibility
The sensor transmits data via the NMEA 0183 network using the 'MWV,R' frame at a frequency of 10 Hz, ensuring smooth data updates. The package includes a network interface that allows direct connection to an NMEA 2000 backbone. The WS310 is fully compatible with B&G multifunction displays and instruments, including the Triton², Vulcan, and Zeus ranges.
