Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for performance sailing, the B&G WS730 wind sensor pack provides accurate and reliable wind data. This vertical sensor features a 1.4m (1450mm) high-modulus carbon spar that positions the anemometer in clear airflow to minimize disturbances from the sailplan at the mast. Its aerodynamic design is the result of over 200,000 hours of development and wind-tunnel testing, including a one-piece vane for increased stability.
Accuracy and System Integration
The B&G WS730 is optimized to deliver highly accurate wind angle and speed data, essential for precise race calls and autopilot performance improvements. It supports NMEA 0183 sentences (MWV, R) at 10Hz and connects directly to B&G H5000 and WTP3 systems via the NMEA 0183 input. A separate wired interface also allows integration with NMEA 2000 networks. Power consumption is less than 0.2W, and it operates on a 9V to 16V DC supply.
Durability and Installation
With an operating temperature range of -15°C to +55°C and an IPX6 waterproof rating, the WS730 sensor is built to withstand demanding marine conditions. It has been proven in offshore racing, attesting to its durability. Installation is simplified with a single mast cable connection, and its design allows for easy upgrading from previous VHMU models. The pack includes a 35m mast cable and a junction box. The sensor weighs 0.4 kg, with nominal dimensions of 356 x 1450 x 22 mm for the 1450mm version. The 160 g mast bracket is made from HS 30 aluminum with a hard black anodized finish.
