Detailed description
Detailed description
The BEP 701-MDVS motorized battery switch with voltage-sensitive operation is designed to automate battery bank management on board vessels. Operating at 12V, it combines the features of a voltage-sensitive relay (VSS) and an emergency parallel switch. Capable of handling continuous current up to 275A and up to 1250A peak during startup, this module ensures high-power electrical distribution while protecting batteries from deep discharge through its automatic cutoff algorithms.
Automated management and emergency coupling
Unlike the standard manual model 701 in the same range, the 701-MDVS integrates motorization and advanced voltage detection. In automatic mode, it continuously monitors charge state: if voltage drops below 12.2V for more than 5 minutes, the system disengages to preserve the integrity of the starter battery. It also features an exclusive emergency parallel function (Emergency Parallel) allowing manual or remote coupling of battery banks in case of failure. An integrated LED indicator provides real-time system status via different light codes (rapid flashing for voltage errors outside the 8-15V range, long flashing for parallel mode).
Installation and reliability in marine environments
Certified IPX6 and ignition-protected (UL 1107 and ABYC/CE standards), this battery switch is built to withstand the harshest marine environments (operating from -20°C to +60°C). Its 10 mm (3/8") tinned copper studs and stainless steel nuts ensure optimal conductivity and corrosion resistance. Mechanical installation is flexible with surface or flush mounting options, and removable side panels facilitate power cable routing up to 50 mm² (or 70 mm² with a tension reducer). Power consumption remains extremely low, with only 15 mA drawn in the off position.
