Detailed description
Detailed description
The BEP 714-140A-DVSR battery distribution cluster is an all-in-one solution for power management on single-engine vessels equipped with two battery banks. By integrating a dual voltage sensing relay (DVSR) directly into a compact housing, this system advantageously replaces the separate installation of a battery switch and a charging relay. The result is simplified wiring, reduced footprint, and increased reliability, all in a design built to withstand the most demanding marine environments. This model is part of BEP’s 700 series, known for its modularity and compliance with ABYC standards.
Automatic and intelligent charge management
The core of the system is the integrated DVSR (Dual Sensing Voltage Sensitive Relay). When the engine is running and the service battery voltage reaches 13.4 V (12 V system), the relay automatically closes, connecting both battery banks for simultaneous charging. As soon as the voltage drops to 12.8 V (engine off), the relay opens, isolating the reserve battery. This automatic management ensures you always have a fully charged reserve battery for engine starting or powering safety equipment. The system is designed to operate in both 12 V and 24 V systems, with automatic voltage selection.
Simplified installation and marine-grade robustness
With dimensions of 138 x 69 x 75 mm, the 714-140A-DVSR cluster is significantly more compact than traditional solutions consisting of separate switches and relays. It is molded from high-strength fiber-reinforced plastic, offering excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance, ideal for marine environments and recreational vehicles. The system can be configured to operate only when the engine ignition is on, reducing electrical consumption to zero amperes when the engine is off. This feature is a major advantage for battery preservation during storage periods.
Comparison with competitors
Compared to basic solutions like a simple manual battery switch (e.g., BEP 701-S), this cluster provides complete automation of charging, eliminating the risk of oversight and ensuring a reserve battery is always ready. Compared to more complex systems like multi-bank chargers, the 714-140A-DVSR offers a simpler and more economical solution for single-engine boats, focusing on the essential function of load sharing. It stands out for its integrated design and UL 1107 certification, a mark of safety and compliance.
