Detailed description
Detailed description
The BEP 80-700-0051-00 battery control center is an integrated solution for managing electrical systems on twin-engine marine installations. This panel combines a main key switch and four circuit breakers, providing centralized management and effective power protection. It is designed to optimize electrical installations at sea, particularly for twin-engine setups.
Power management and circuit protection
This control center integrates a sealed key switch designed to control a battery management system, such as a motorized battery switch, enabling activation of battery banks. It is complemented by a set of twin-engine battery circuit breakers, allowing grouped operation or individual isolation. Four circuit breakers are included to protect circuits. These circuit breakers are commonly used for applications such as bilge pumps, safety systems, and electronic memory systems that may remain powered even when the main switches are deactivated.
This control center is designed to work with motorized battery switches (such as the 701-MD model) that support a continuous current of 275 amperes, an intermittent current of 455 amperes, and a starting current of 1250 amperes. These switches operate with a maximum voltage of 32 volts DC and an automatic operating range of 8 to 30 volts DC. They are ignition-protected and feature 10 mm (3/8") tinned copper studs for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance.
Modular design and installation optimization
The BEP 80-700-0051-00 is designed with a modular approach, facilitating integration with other products in the BEP 700 series. Its design allows for flush or surface mounting, with cable access for both horizontal and vertical configurations. This flexibility helps reduce cable lengths and sizes to the starter, resulting in significant savings in copper cabling cost and weight.
The motorized battery switches compatible with this control center are rated for immersion up to 1.8 meters (6 feet), indicating resistance to marine environments. It is recommended not to use solvents or sealing products on these switches, but petroleum-based grease can be applied to the stud-lug junction. These switches draw only 15 mA in the "off" position. The maximum recommended cable size for these switches is 50 mm², with the option to use 70 mm² cables provided adequate strain relief is ensured.
