Detailed description
Detailed description
The BEP set of 3 275A single-pole battery switches is designed for reliable isolation of battery circuits in marine and demanding environments. Each switch provides ignition protection and can handle a continuous load of 275 amperes DC, with an intermittent current of 455 amperes for 5 minutes and a starting current of 1250 amperes for 10 seconds. The maximum supported nominal voltage is 48 volts DC.
Design and Technical Specifications
These battery switches stand out for their construction in fiber-reinforced molded plastics resistant to high temperatures, ensuring durability in harsh conditions. The terminals are equipped with two 10 mm (3/8 inch) tinned copper studs with nuts, facilitating connections for cables up to 1/0. Each switch measures approximately 69 x 69 x 75 mm (2.75 x 2.75 x 3 inches). Activation is performed by rotating the knob 45° for on/off positions. The design allows for surface or flush mounting via a 52 mm (2.1 inch) hole. The patented Contour locking system allows switches to be used individually or assembled for an integrated installation. This design complies with ABYC specifications and has been independently tested to UL 1107 standards at 110% of specified ratings.
Features and Integration
Safety is enhanced by a removable control knob in the 45° counterclockwise position, preventing unintended activation during maintenance. The knob also features an interchangeable labeling system for various applications. Three removable side plates provide easy access for cables, while a rear cover isolates terminals against short circuits, ensuring ABYC compliance. The "Easy Fit" design simplifies installation by replacing most European lever-and-post switches and can be flush-mounted in panels up to 19 mm (3/4 inch) thick using a removable threaded ring. While these switches are manual solutions, BEP, as a member of the Navico group, also offers CZone digital switching systems, providing options for more complex electrical architectures. This set of battery switches represents a robust and certified solution for managing onboard power, comparable to other single-pole switches on the market but distinguished by its certifications and patented locking system.
