Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for high-current circuit protection, the BLUE SEA SYSTEMS MRBF Surface Mount Common Source 5196-BSS fuse block provides a compact solution for grouping multiple critical loads. This module centralizes protection for three separate circuits, such as a windlass, bow thruster, or main power feed to a dashboard, from a single power source. Its surface-mount design simplifies integration into confined onboard spaces.
Integration and Technical Specifications
The MRBF 5196-BSS block is sized to accept MRBF fuses (Mega/MIDI-style bolt-down fuses), known for handling high currents in a compact format. With dimensions of 189.4 mm in length, 50.8 mm in width, and 61.1 mm in height, it has a controlled footprint. Connections are made via four 5/16"-18 studs, and the unit is securely mounted using four #10 or 5 mm mounting screw holes.
Positioning and Use Cases
This fuse block serves as an alternative to individual fuse holders for applications requiring protection of 2 to 3 high-current loads near the battery. Unlike more complex distribution solutions, the 5196-BSS simplifies primary wiring by providing a robust common connection point, reducing the number of direct battery cables. It is particularly suited to installations where space is limited and connection reliability is critical for equipment such as bow thrusters or windlasses.
