Detailed description
Detailed description
The BLUE SEA 7719-BSS ML 24V solenoid is a power management solution designed for high-current 24V marine electrical systems. This ML-series relay features a magnetic latch design, drawing near-zero current (<13 mA continuous at 25°C) when ON or OFF, and a brief <4 A (20 ms) draw only during state changes. This design extends battery life by eliminating hold current.
Performance and Reliability in Marine Environments
With a continuous switching capacity of 500 A and a surge current rating of 1450 A for 30 seconds (with 2x 120 mm² wiring), the 7719-BSS solenoid is suited for demanding applications such as engine starters, inverters, or battery bank switching. Its silver alloy contacts and 3/8"-16 (M10) tinned copper studs ensure maximum conductivity and excellent corrosion resistance, extending the device’s lifespan to 100,000 mechanical cycles. The housing meets IP66 ingress protection standards, shielding it from dust and powerful water jets, and complies with external ignition protection requirements per ISO 8846 and SAE J1171.
Positioning within the ML-Series Range
The 7719-BSS model is a pure solenoid without an integrated manual override, distinguishing it from remote battery switches in the ML-RBS series such as PN 7713 (12V) and PN 7717 (24V), which include a manual bypass function (manual override) providing ON/OFF control and a physical "LOCK OFF" capability for maintenance. The 7719-BSS is specifically designed for applications where remote control via an SPDT or SPST switch is sufficient, without the need for direct manual intervention on the relay itself. Its control circuit accepts 18–32 V DC, ensuring broad compatibility with 24V systems.
