Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for marine electrical system management, the Blue Sea Systems DC BATTERYMNG 3M DUAL BAT panel is a centralized solution for power distribution and circuit protection. This panel integrates essential features for dual-battery bank installations, simplifying the management of engine and house batteries.
Power management and protection
The panel is equipped with a Dual Circuit Plus™ battery switch, IP67 certified, which allows coupling batteries for emergency starting. This type of switch facilitates operation by activating both house and engine-start batteries simultaneously while maintaining their isolation. An "COMBINE BATTERIES" position is also included for emergency interconnection. Automatic charge relays (ACR), also IP67 certified, automatically combine batteries during charging, ensuring efficient recharging of both banks.
Design and technical specifications
Blue Sea Systems battery management panels are typically designed for 12V DC nominal voltages, while being compatible with 24V DC systems. They can support a maximum current of 100A on the house circuit. Switches of the m-Series or e-Series type, often included, offer continuous ratings up to 300A or 350A, with starting peaks up to 1,000A for 10 seconds. The construction of these panels uses 5052-H32 aluminum alloy at 3.175 mm thickness, with a textured polyurethane finish in graphite color, ensuring resistance to marine environments. The 3/8"-16 switch terminal studs (accepting M10 terminals) are made of tinned copper for optimal conductivity and corrosion resistance. Panels are often equipped with 15A thermal circuit breakers for 24/7 circuit protection and a main 100A circuit breaker on some models, with available slots for additional protection. The "Ignition Protected" design ensures safe installation, including on gasoline-powered boats.
