Detailed description
Detailed description
The DC BATTERYMNG E DUALCIRCPLUS panel by Blue Sea Systems is a battery management solution designed for marine systems. It integrates a Dual Circuit Plus e-series switch and an automatic charge relay (ACR) for comprehensive management of two battery banks, typically a starter bank and a house bank.
Key Features of the Battery Management Panel
This panel allows isolation of the engine circuit from the house circuit, ensuring independent control of each battery bank. It protects marine electronic equipment from voltage drops and spikes that can occur during engine start-up. An integrated emergency cross-connect function enables combining both battery banks for assisted starting. The automatic charge relay (ACR), rated IP67, ensures automatic battery combining during charging, and a Batterylink charger (also IP67 rated) can be integrated to provide DC charging from the engine alternator. The Batterylink Charger 7608 model is also available, offering 20A charging and a 170A ACR.
Dual Circuit Plus e-Series Switch
At the heart of this system is the Dual Circuit Plus e-series switch, designed for robust battery bank management. It offers 3 positions and allows simultaneous switching of two isolated battery banks or their combination to power all loads. Its "make-before-break" design ensures uninterrupted power during battery bank switching. The switch is ignition protected, making it safe for installation on gasoline-powered boats. It supports a maximum voltage of 32V DC, with continuous current of 350A, intermittent current of 525A (5 minutes), and starting currents of 700A (30 seconds) or 1000A (10 seconds) per circuit. The terminals are tin-plated copper for maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance, with 3/8" - 16 (M10) studs requiring a tightening torque of 15.82 Nm. The switch complies with UL 1500, SAE J1171, IP66, CE, ISO 8846, UL 1107, and ABYC standards.
Design and Installation
The panel is designed to simplify battery switch operation and facilitate ACR integration. It features LED indicators and backlit labels to signal the ON position. Its modular design allows for easy customization and modification. Both the Dual Circuit Plus switches and automatic charge relays are IP67 rated, ensuring protection against temporary immersion and dust. Minimum connections for operation require referring to the product-specific instructions for cable sizing and fuse ratings.
